What to expect

When you arrive at my newborn photography studio, it’s all about making you feel at home. My space is peaceful, filled with natural light. I keep things calm for your baby. Using soft, gentle lighting to capture their delicate features. Babies thrive in a peaceful and cozy environment.

I remember those first weeks as a new parent well. There is always hot coffee, a homemade cake and a comfy chair for tired parents.

The session itself lasts around an hour and a half following babies lead. There won’t be any rushing, just plenty happy moments with your little one. I never book back-to-back sessions, so your time with me is all yours. Whether it’s a feed, a nappy change, or some extra cuddles, if your baby needs it, we'll do it.

Together we will create some stunning family photos and posed individuals of your baby. Plus those natural candid moments when your just having fun! Admiring your beautiful new baby and all the joy that comes with.

If you want to include older siblings or grandparents, we’ll make sure they’re part of the session too! Celebrating the new arrival in style. Before we wrap up, we will focus on capturing those tiny, precious details. Like the way their fingers curl delicately around yours. Those perfect feet nestled in your hands. Personal beautiful photographs that you will treasure for ever.

It’s best to book your newborn photoshoot after your second scan, ideally around the 20-week mark. We will pencil in a day around a week after your due date. Once your baby arrives, let me know and we’ll adjust if necessary. As a mum of two, I know how unpredictable babies can be, so don’t worry if things don’t go exactly as planned. We’ll work around your schedule and your baby’s needs to make it happen. By pre panning I'll have your background and flowers choices. I can help you choose your outfits and special meaningful items, long before you have even entered the labor ward. Let's make it stress free and the perfect celebration for your new arrival.

Small and sleepy

The early days, when your baby is between 3 and 14 days old, are perfect for those sleepy, curled-up photographs we all adore. Tiny fingers, soft stretches, peaceful little snoozes. At this age, babies settle easily. I can gently capture their delicate newness while you sit back and relax as your tiny beautiful baby take center stage. It’s amazing how much they enjoy it.

Alert and smiling

If you’d rather capture those first bright eyes and interaction, a session between 2 and 8 weeks is just as special. You’ll get those heart-melting gazes and tiny first expressions. First smiles. Every baby has their own perfect timing. They don't follow the rulebook and you don’t have to either. Whenever you’re ready, I’ll be here, ready to capture the magic.

If your little one has already made their grand entrance, don’t worry! There’s still time to capture the magic. Send me a message with a few dates and I’ll do my very best to find you a space. These first days are precious and fleeting, and I’d be honoured to help you treasure them forever.

If you prefer a more natural, documentary-style feel, then a home session could be perfect for you. I’ll come to your space and gently guide you through a relaxed shoot using natural light and your surroundings. These sessions are more lifestyle-focused, capturing the connection and everyday beauty of your family in your own environment.

Snuggling on the sofa, feeding in the nursery, or those quiet moments by the window. It’s also a wonderful way to include pets and older siblings. Meaningful moments and details from your home create a truly personal gallery of memories.

Fresh, seasonal flowers are one of my favourite ways to style a newborn session. There’s something so beautiful about the contrast, tiny fingers and toes curled beside big, soft petals. Soft, Gentle colours mirror your baby’s delicate features. Creating unique and stunning images.

Whenever I can, I choose flowers with meaning. Maybe the birth flower of the month your baby arrived, or something that links to her name. Little Rose? She was always going to have roses. And please don’t worry, all the flowers I use are baby-safe and carefully chosen to be thorn-free.

The day before your shoot, I’ll visit my local florist here in High Wycombe to handpick what’s looking its best. If you have a favourite flower or a special request, just let me know.

Plus if you’re also booking your one-year session, we can bring the flowers back again. It’s so special to see how much your little one has grown in comparrison! How they now reach out, smile, and play with the blooms they once curled up beside.

1. Feed Before You Leave

Try to give your baby a full feed just before you head out. A full tummy often means a super sleepy baby. Just right for those dreamy, curled-up shots. They’ll likely doze off in the car and arrive warm and snuggly for their moment in the spotlight.

2. Come Photo Ready

If baby’s already sleepy, we can get started as soon as you arrive. So come dressed and photo-ready! This goes for everyone attending—yes, dads too! Lets make the most of those quiet early moments while baby snoozes on.

3. Bring Something Meaningful

Whether it’s a hand-knitted blanket, a treasured teddy or a little family keepsake, these items add a personal touch that props alone can’t replace. I have a studio full of beautiful wraps, cushions and textures, but what’s yours will always mean more.

4. Relax and Trust Me

You’ve done the hard part, now it’s time to put your feet up. Have a coffee, enjoy the cake, and just take it all in. I’ll gently guide the session so your baby stays safe, snug and happy. You’re always welcome to pop in ahead of time if you’d like to see the studio or say hello!

5. Siblings and Grandparents Welcome

These early days are special for everyone, not just parents. If you'd love to include grandparents or older siblings in a few frames, just let me know beforehand. We'll make time to capture those beautiful family bonds across the generations. Plus when babys feeding or changing ill sneak a quick mini session in with any brothers or sisters hanging around

For At-Home Newborn Sessions:

7. Turn Up the Heat

Babies love to be warm and cosy! Pop the heating on for half an hour before I arrive to keep baby comfy and settled, especially if we’re using wraps or minimal clothing.

8. Light Matters

I’ll bring lighting if needed, but it helps if we can work near a bright window or in a room with soft natural light. If possible , WhatsApp me a few photos when your booking. But if not Don’t worry, I’ll guide you when I arrive.

9. Don’t Tidy for Me

This isn’t a magazine shoot, it’s your home, your life, that’s the beauty of it. We’ll focus on simple, beautiful moments, not clutter. If needed, I’ll gently rearrange things to make it look great.
