The Importance of Customer Relationships in Bump to Baby Photography
When it comes to capturing those once-in-a-lifetime moments of your baby’s early years, whether they’re a newborn or celebrating their first birthday, it’s essential to choose a photographer who understands the value of these irreplaceable memories. The right photographer isn’t just someone with a camera—they’re an artist who listens, understands your vision, and creates something special. These moments can never be recreated, so it’s important to work with a dedicated professional. For me, creating stunning, personalized artwork for my clients is not just a job—it’s my passion.
Building Trust with a Special Family
One of my favourite families showed just how powerful trust and teamwork can be in a photo shoot. Our journey started with a delightful newborn session for little Emily. Surrounded by soft pinks and roses I handpicked, she looked radiant. Her mother, who is from Nepal, brought traditional clothing to celebrate Emily’s heritage, adding a personal and cultural touch to the shoot.
The family adored the photos, and without hesitation, they booked Emily’s one-year photo shoot right away. This marked the beginning of a creative and heartfelt journey that would capture Emily's growth in a truly special way.
Emily’s First Birthday Session: Balloons, Bubbles, and Magic
A year quickly flew by, and it was time for Emily’s first birthday shoot. The family suggested using a matching pink background similar to her newborn session, but I recommended incorporating something more playful—balloons. The night before the session, they arrived with pastel balloons and a stunning custom balloon sculpture with Emily’s name on it.
The session was already turning into something magical, but when they asked if we could add bubbles, I knew it would be unforgettable. The results were simply breathtaking. We managed to capture Emily’s joy, and the session felt like a true celebration.
Continuing the Theme: A Milk Bath with Rose Petals
To continue the theme of the shoot, I suggested doing a one-year milk bath session, decorated with rose petals to echo Emily’s newborn photos. They loved the idea, and the results were full of pure, infectious joy. Emily’s laughter, surrounded by bubbles and rose petals, made for moments that truly captured the freedom and happiness of childhood.
A Missed Opportunity, and a Heartwarming Comeback
As we were wrapping up, Emily’s mum brought out a gorgeous Nepalese outfit she had carefully chosen for the session. It featured rich blues and reds, but by then, Emily was tired, and the pink backdrop wasn’t right for the vibrant colours of the outfit. I felt disappointed we couldn’t take the photos as planned, but I knew this moment deserved something special.
A few days later, as I was prepping for a corporate headshot session, I realised the dark blue backdrop I was using would be perfect for Emily’s outfit. I quickly reached out and invited them for a free 10-minute mini shoot before my next session. Mum was over the moon, and the session turned out beautifully. The images were exactly what we had envisioned and more.
Creating Lasting Memories: A Family Photo Wall
When the family came to view the final images, they loved every single one. The previous year, they had ordered two large acrylic prints, so I suggested creating a family photo wall in their home to capture the milestones from Emily’s first year. They agreed, and we created a beautiful photo montage that included highlights like the balloon arch, milk bath bubbles, and, of course, Emily in her stunning Nepalese outfit.
A Continued Journey of Capturing Special Moments
Before leaving, I asked if they wanted to book Emily’s next session for the following year. Once again, without hesitation, they said yes. It’s families like this that remind me of why I love what I do. Each session is an opportunity to create photos that will adorn homes and capture memories to be treasured forever.

A Special Journey with Baby Emily
One of my favourite families showed just how magical trust and collaboration can be. We started with a beautiful newborn session for baby Emily, featuring soft pinks, roses, and traditional Nepalese clothing to honour her heritage. The family loved the results so much that they immediately booked Emily’s one-year session.
A Magical Birthday Shoot and a Missed Opportunity
For her first birthday shoot, we added balloons and bubbles to the pink backdrop, making it a truly memorable celebration. At the end of the session, Emily’s mum brought out a stunning Nepalese outfit in rich blues and reds. However, Emily was tired, and the pink backdrop wasn’t the right fit for the bold colors. I was disappointed we couldn’t capture the moment, but I knew it deserved something special.
A few days later, while prepping for another session, I realized the dark blue backdrop I was using would be perfect for the outfit. I quickly reached out and offered a free mini shoot, and the results were stunning. The family loved the images, and they truly captured the essence of the moment.
